“I was blown away by Hidden Springs. First I thought I was lost, and then WOW, this really beautiful, secluded course. What a hidden treasure. I’m planning a return trip with our supper club to have a weekend getaway that isn’t too far, but has a real “destination” feel. Thanks Hidden Springs….save a cabin for us!” – Tom Ridgeway
“Tucked away in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Hidden Springs Golf Course truly lives up to its name in all respects. Located on the grounds of the Double B Ranch & Resort about 25 miles north of Kerville and 20 miles southwest of Fredericksburg this course very much lends itself to the Hidden part of its title.
This is partly why this course is as magnificent as it is, its location allows players some of the most beautiful and peaceful golf in Texas. Every one of the 18 holes at Hidden Springs is a vivid testament to the beauty that the Hill Country has to offer. The Pedernales River flows throughout the Hidden Falls and is intergral in both the scenery and the play providing players with beautiful views as well as notorious hazards. To be frank, each hole on the course seamlessly blends with the gorgeous surroundings essentially adding to the scenery rather than taking away. While the aesthetics of this course are outstanding it is the play that truly ices the cake. In other words Hidden Springs plays as well as it looks.
This course is intelligently designed offering an extremely unique playing experience for players of all skill levels. Several of the holes on the course feature tremendous shifts in elevation including the exceptionally fun and challenging number 4, a par three with a drop green bisected by the Pedernales.
This river is a prominent feature of the course as seen on holes like 4 and the amazingly beautiful number 10, another elevated hole with a strong water presence. These types of holes are, pardon the horrible pun, par for the course at Hidden Springs. This course is a player’s course not only for the aforementioned scenery and play but for the exceptional staff.
Everyone is in on the game round these parts. The Double B’s owners, Bill & Bess Lester as well as their dogs, are a common sight around the course at Hidden Springs. These two should be considered a main attraction solely for their hospitality and engaging personalities. Their love of the course is easily discernable in the way they speak and they make you feel as though they are truly glad to see you play at their home. The pro-shop and grounds staff are some of the most personable folks I have met in my many travels as well. The digs at Hidden Springs’ host ranch, The Double B, are excellent and are just one more reason to go play golf for an entire weekend. If you so choose to stay at the Double B I would suggest bring the family. Members of the family who choose not to play golf will find a multitude of options for recreation. Wives and daughters will love the close proximity to the shops of Fredericksburg and Kerville while anybody else will surely find their share of fun swimming or fishing in the spring-fed Pedernales. Guys I am here to tell you, Hidden Springs is a hell of a course.
Combine that with the beauty and the accommodations of the Double B Ranch & Resort and you have all the makings for one of the best weekends you can spend in Texas.” - William Tallmon
